  1. Where is this, if you don’t mind me asking? It’s beautiful.

  2. I love buying some pastries from a super nice place nearby then sitting on the stones early morning. It’s so relaxing

  3. Kamogawa is the best. Maybe the only thing that I’m going to miss if I moved from Kyoto

  4. It’s no so much the temples as the kami or Buddhas within, but river gods are not to be scoffed at either!

  5. It’s a really nice spot. Unfortunately, I’ve sometimes discovered smashed bottles there from where some people were having night-time drinking parties, which is very frustrating.

It’s also close to Tadasu no mori and Shimogamo-jinja, which are both lovely.

  6. Nice spot to rest after a good walk or bike ride up or down the rivers 👌.

  7. I walk along the river all the damn time. It’s long, the pathways are wide, with the exception of shijo and sanjo, you never get the feeling that it’s overcrowded. Even if it does, there’s enough space for everyone. Compare that to Arashiyama….

  8. Hell yeah. Just south of Shimogamo. Then hop over to Falafel Garden 🥙

  9. Same! I often go to Shimogamo shrine walking from Kyoto eki along Kamogawa… It’s the perfect day activity 💘

  10. My friend and I just happened to walk past it and it’s honestly one of the coolest parks.

  11. i love this place! walked past it once by chance and had to stop and appreciate the beauty

  12. I’ve also heard from two acquaintances, both telling me that this spot is haunted 👻🧟‍♂️

  13. well said my sir!
Lived just near this place for 4 years in uni and loved to go for a walk here.
Clams your heart and mind everytime.

  14. I love riding up the Kamogawa from Oike Dori and spending an afternoon in and around Shimogamo. There’s a little jazz café called Lush Life that might just be my favourite place in the city. The patrons all seem to know each other and I felt like I was having tea with a family and they were just chewing the fat about everyday stuff. Just warm, genuine people, good coffee and wonderful music. Bliss.

  15. My favorite spot is the park at the bottom of Arashiyama.

I caught a late sakura bloom once that overlapped with the start of crableg season.

Sitting on a bench by the river with blossoms and a king crab leg was something else.

  16. Ah, used to live just north of here. I spent so many hours sitting on those stepping stones.

  17. Kamogawa really is a lovely place to take a stroll after work.
