We are a group of 6 people going to Okinawa and Kyushu for the first time in July. The members in the group have gone to Japan several times and speak some Japanese, however we haven’t been to these parts of Japan before.
Without further ado, here’s the itinerary:
Day 1
– landed in Naha at 8am
– drop luggage at hotel
– breakfast/lunch at Makishi market
– Shuri castle
– dinner and rest
(Also, what’s the most convenient public transport in Okinawa? I assume Suica or Icoca can be used extensively here)
Day 2
– fly to Fukuoka ideally before lunch (we have a nice ryokan booked on day 4 hence we need to fly in sooner)
– explore the city
(Feel free to recommend where to visit!)
Day 3
– some people will stay in Fukuoka to do some shopping, maybe Vegefru stadium
– the other group will go to Takachihi Gorge, leaving at 8am from Fukuoka and returning at 5pm from Takachiho
Day 4
– Kurokawa Onsen
– will be staying in Yamamizuki, unsure if we need to try other public bath or if the ryokan’s one is enough
Day 5
– stay in onsen town until after lunch, then go to Kumamoto
– if possible want to visit Mt Aso but seems unlikely due to the expected fatigue and tight schedule (choosing to go means we need to catch the 1pm bus and leave Aso by 5pm)
Day 6
– from Kumamoto need to transfer to Kagoshima
– from Kagoshima board 4pm ferry to Yakushima
– stay near Anbo port
Day 7
– early hike towards Jomon Sugi from Arakawa Trailhead
Day 8
– Shiratani Unsuikyo
– leave from Miyanoura port back to Kagoshima
Day 9
– relaxed day at Kagoshima
– if we’re not tired, will explore Sakurajima
Day 10
– flight back to Naha
– immediately go to Onna (unsure which transportation is the best)
– make time for Churaumi aquarium
Day 11
– diving day
– Blue Cave
– if we have time, Manzamo Cape
Day 12
– back to Naha
Day 13
– early flight back
We plan to go back to Kyushu within the next 2 years so now we’re just roughly getting the grasp of each city and next time we can spend more time in the city we like
Thank you in advance 🙂
