Hello, I’m in Japan as an exhange student, been here since March (= for 2 months)
I want to recieve money from a friend living in Japan, but from what I can tell a foreigner with a residence period lesser than 6 months has all transactions in and out of their account classified as overseas payments…accompanied by an outrageous fee (my account is at JP bank).
Question 1. Am I right in assuming that this applies to transactions where I am receiving from a Japanese account with resident status?
2. If so, are there any alternative methods for me to recieve payment (that don’t involve 7500yen fees)?
