When I watch Japanese movies, emotions look more exaggerated on the screen, not just subtle like I’m used to from Western movies. It looks slightly over the top to me. Maybe it is because of my limited experience with Japanese culture. Are the Japanese naturally more animated as a people? Or do they prefer movie acting to be over the top for effect?
I can highly recommend Bullet Train (1975) and Godzilla Minus One (2023).
