Hey everyone,
Hoping someone has some experience applying for a home loan while on parental leave (育休 / いくきゅう). Prestia told me they wouldn’t approve my application because I’m currently on paternity leave, which surprised me.
Is this a standard practice for lenders here? It seems like 6 months out of a 30+ year loan shouldn’t be a deal-breaker, but maybe I’m missing something. Or if there was a way to simply… give the \~2.2% payment plus the 6 months payments that I’d accrue while I’m out on parent leave.
If anyone has successfully gotten a home loan while on parental leave, which bank did you use? For reference, we already have the assets to cover the entirety of the loan.
Thanks in advance!
