I’m trying to make hard choices about my itinerary. I’m trying to decide if it’s worth it to visit the North even if I’ll have limited time. There are some trains down the coast (Resort Shirakami from Aomori to Akita; Inaho from Akita to Niigata) that we are interested in riding, mostly for the scenery and because we love trains
I’ve looked at train schedules and we’ll only be able to spend 4 nights at most in those 3 cities. I was thinking Aomori is the town that would get two nights.
I’ve already planned a bunch of nights in Tokyo and Osaka, plus onsens in Kurobe & Arima. Adding the northern loop takes me from 4 hotels over the trip to SEVEN. And definitely complicates things. But it seems so tempting
Is it worth it? I’ll be there in late October…
