This will be my third time travelling to Japan for 1+ month so in general I am more interested in off the beaten path locations instead of the standard circuit.
My partner and I are planning to bike the Shinamani Kaido, starting in Imabari. The plan right now is to sleep in Imabari the night before so we can be ready in the AM to start our cycle. The night before we get to Imabari, we will be at Kinosaki onsen. I’ve been once before and loved it, but feel it’s more of an evening destination than a daytime one.
This means I have the day before the Shinamani-Kaido unplanned and I am trying to think of a place we can visit during the AM/Afternoon to break up our transit from Kinosaki Onsen to Imabari.
Anyone have any ideas where could be a good place to spend some time before heading to Imabari? Of note, we will be using the Kansai Wide Area Pass for the majority of transit for this part of the trip, which notably does not include Hiroshima.
