Hey folks – just back from Tokyo and can’t wait to be back again! Am planning a 2-week trip to Japan in October and I definitely want to visit Gunma prefecture (Kusatsu/Ikaho), given my obsession with Initial D. My plan at the moment is to travel from Tokyo to Gunma, then to a less-touristy place like Nagano (I am assuming here) and back to Tokyo.
My qns is – is a trip to Nagano worth it (from the perspective of locals/foreigners who have visited)? Asking this cos it doesnt make sense to head to Kansai from Gunma (technically doable but seems quite out of the way…).
No specific preferences per se, but would love to explore the city in general, bars would be a plus + local cuisine. Open to any suggestions if there’re any recommendations in the vicinity of Gunma prefecture such that it is on the way (will be renting a car from Takasaki).
