Today while taking a walk in the forest I enjoyed a nice sunny day and tried to compose a haiku as a piece of language practice.
In process a word “春日差し” came to my mind. It seemed very natural to me, although I couldn’t find it in any dictionaries. A quick Google search showed that this word is used sometimes, but I’m still not sure whether it is OK to use it, particularly in a haiku (and what would be the proper reading). Please advise.
Can someone help me with a captcha? I lost my ebook jp account and it is asking me to write a captcha but idk how to do it, I think is kanji.
I practice martial arts. When I am discussing the principles that govern how a technique works, would it be more appropriate to use ri (理) or soku (則)? For example, if I am discussing the principle of joining uke’s energy, would I say aiki ri, or aiki soku? Or is there a more appropriate way to translate this? And could your also explain the difference in use of the two kanji?
So I had my first session for a new tattoo, the Rolls Royce Spirit of Ecstasy, and started wondering what she’d be called in Japanese.
The first translation I came up with was 有頂天の女神 (uchouten no megami).
But after a quick look online, namely the Japanese RR Wikipedia page, it seems she’s simply called ‘スピリット・オブ・エクスタシー’.
I have started learning kanji. It’s interesting to write… Especially with my script.
But, question is, what are the general rules/advices on using onyomi/kunyomi reading, that helps you to read the text correctly? Thanks in advance.
