Narita airport to Osaka upon landing

I’ll be traveling to Japan in a couple weeks and will be landing in Narita airport unfortunately.

In terms of general itinerary, I made the decision to go backwards; land in Narita airport > Osaka > Kyoto > end in Tokyo then > Narita airport.

I’ll be landing in Narita presumably 3:00 PM, and was planning to take N’EX to Tokyo station then Shinkansen to Osaka. It’ll be long day but the first landing day is a wash anyways I’d imagine.

My question is, realistically can I make it to Osaka before 10 PM? I’m not entirely sure how long customs will take upon landing, or how tough navigating Tokyo station and booking Shinkansen tickets will be. I know the train ride is roughly 3 hours in itself. Hopefully get a Shinkansen by 6 PM? That assumed I can get through customs and get to Tokyo station in 3 hours.

Just curious anybody’s experience going from Narita airport to Osaka on the first day.

**Additional info:** In an ideal world, for me I would’ve flown from SFO to Osaka and fly out to Haneda since I will be ending in Tokyo, but the flight fare prices were insane. For me, from SFO to Narita, it was about $1,000 for 12 days. Whereas from SFO to Osaka it was about $2,000. That is why I am in this conundrum.
