I’ve read multiple articles about Ueno being one of the places to avoid for tourists in Tokyo for safety reasons. I’ve booked Sotetsu Fresa Inn Ueno Okachimachi for 6 nights. It’ll be my first time in Japan. I’m flying in to Narita airport in June and will also be departing from there, so I decided on Ueno because of easy access to airport and also it’s on the Yamamoto loop line. But now I’m concerned if I made the right choice or look into other options in the areas I mention above. In addition to general safety issues, I’m concerned if I’ll be safe there as a woman.
