Hi, I moved to Japan in August 2023 for a job starting October 2023 (on a work visa for software engineering). For the first two months I was unemployed, and unfortunately I didn’t know I had to pay into pension by myself at the time. I received the red envelope from the pension office at the beginning of April 2024 asking me to pay up for those first 2 months, which I did right on the spot.
So now I guess I have 2 months of late payments made. My visa will expire in 2028 August, and assuming I want to stay in Japan, will the late payments be enough of a reason for immigration to reject my visa renewal? From what I heard, the government is on a trend to make it harder for foreigners to renew visa/get PRs if they don’t pay their pension on time… 🙁
Does anyone have any experience with this?
