My car got vandalized and goods including wallet have been stollen

I live in a very peaceful (or so I thought) neighborhood in Mito with mostly elderly people who can barely move their legs anymore. Been living here for 3 years and never heard of any crime happening. All my neighbors are friendly and kind. The only thing scary in this neighborhood is the rabid raccoons.

I always park my car next to the house I’m renting, right by the guest bedroom window. I sometimes leave my bag with my wallet in it on the passenger seat because WHO’S GONNA TAKE IT, RIGHT? Well, it got taken.

I woke up to the passenger seat window completely shattered and the bag was gone. I only had 9000 yen in cash, but what I’m dreading the most is my documents. All of them. Credit cards, point cards, resident card, driver’s license, everything has to be renewed. I had 1500 yen on my Tsuruha point card and I was gonna use them to buy my son’s diapers that day.

Anyway, the police didn’t do anything. My neighbors don’t have any type of CCTV, I didn’t hear anything during the night, and there were no fingerprints and no suspects. And even if there was a suspect, if there was no evidence, Japanese police couldn’t care less. I know they’ll never find my stuff. They were acting pretty bored and bothered too, like I woke them up from their nap and dragged them here. I even showed them a picture of my bag and wallet and drew a sketch and they were like nah we don’t need that. I beg you pardon? Instead, they spent an hour counting steps around the house. ???? I told them to review the footage of the CCTV from the Anko factory in front of my house and they were like nah that won’t be necessary, we’re gonna take your fingerprints instead. ??????? I beg your DEAREST pardon. I could not reason a thing of their investigation.

Anyway, my car finally got fixed today but my stuff will be forever gone. Be cautious and don’t get in my situation, otherwise the police will count how many steps from the crime scene to the gates of hell (immigration office).
