Budgeting and Iterirary Help

Budget for a Trip

Looking at a solo trip for 2-3 weeks, more than likely in October at the moment.

Original plan was July/August for the summer firework festivals but advice on weather scared me so thoughts on October weather would be great too.

I’m looking at a direct flight from London-Tokyo for ease which is booking at approx £1100 return.

I was wondering how much cash do I need for my actual stay in Japan.

Currently my itinerary isn’t rock solid however would consist of 4 nights in Tokyo, the same 4-5 between Osaka and Kyoto, day trip to Nara as well as renting a car from Osaka for the remainder and go see places like Shirakawago and more local hole in the wall towns and shrines.

I’m not a massive shopper so don’t expect to be buying loads of stuff however a UNIQLO trip will defo be on the cards and will be browsing other department stores so may still end up with a handful of smaller goodies.

I love food and aim to make the most of that whilst I’m out and aim to be staying in hotels and such of course during my time there.

I also have a query regarding ad hoc accommodation as since I’ll be renting a car from there i’ll have free reign to change my plans as I desire so is that something achievable?

Wondering on guidance for total accommodation costs, for lets say a decent-ish hotel in Tokyo and other bigger cities as potentially something a bit more cultural as well beyond that?

Rental costs for a car for about week and a half or so?

Basically for my ideal trip, how much should I be aiming to take with me?

Any ideas re: places to visit and changes to my time of year or anything else is massively appreciated.

Thanks a bunch.
