For context, 25M and at a bit of a crossroads in life. I was supposed to be in Japan for a year, but had my plans cancelled due to Covid. As such, I’ve gotten on with life but always felt that nagging feeling of embracing a move to Japan. My current job has definitely come up short on the promised experience and I’m being proactive in looking for a change.
I have:
* Degree – University is on the eligibility list of the J-Find visa, and I graduated two years ago (within 5 years)
* JLPT N2 (taking N1 in July)
* 2 and a half years experience of full-time, post-university employment. First in a Japanese office and now at a very large financial services firm.
* Some investment/finance certifications from my current job, as well as a 6-month cert in data science (not that I am confident enough for/nor looking for a tech job, but I have basic competencies with Python and DBs)
As a bonus, I’ve been to Japan twice in the last five years for extended periods of time. On those trips, I’ve gotten a chance to visit most of the major cities. I know Tokyo has its pull, but I also have some signficant social/professional contacts in places like Kobe or Fukuoka. Not the most relevant, but just in-case people have tailored regional advice.
I’ve already reached out to some Japanese recruitment agencies, as well as looking within my network, but I was wondering what other options people were aware of on here?
Thank you very much for reading!
