Should I Change My Vocab Study Method?

I have recently found myself that when I study vocab I tend to obsess over a max. of 10 words a week to master them, but is it impractical to do so compared to the people who learn 10 new words a day vs. my method of learn 10 new words and make sure I master them?

  1. You can try to learn 10 words a day if you want to. If you find out later that you learn better doing 10 words a week, go back to doing so. Or, you can first try seeing if you’re comfortable having a weekly vocabulary list that contains more than 10 words, in which I’d start out small like 2-3 words a day and add more daily words over time if desired.

Language learning is a personal endeavor at its core. It doesn’t matter what other people do or claim to do in their language journey – you only need to experiment and find what’s effective for you. It doesn’t matter if your journey is a sprint or a jog or a walk, or a combination of all three. What does matter is reaching your goal at a pace *you* can maintain. If 10 words a week is what keeps you consistently learning, I don’t see reason to change what you’re doing.
