Applying to work at Okinawan Institute of Science and Technology (OIST)

I wanted advice on how to go about applying for an administrative position at OIST as a recent university graduate.

I live in Okinawa, and while I’m a native-level bilingual in English and Japanese, I would prefer to work in a largely English-speaking environment. I also wanted to gain experience in a field close or adjacent to what I studied, and I’ve had my eye on OIST as a good institution to incorporate both of these things.

I have BS in Statistics and Computational Data Science, and I have some internship experience, but otherwise I only have basic customer service experience working at fast food places and convenience stores.

I’ve been combing through the job openings on their site, but I’m worried it’s difficult to be taken seriously if I just spam applications for every position I think I can go for. Does anybody have any first-hand experience going through the hiring process with them? Not as a professor or faculty/research, but as some sort of administrative position. I want to make it clear that I’m not trying to become a student there, so I don’t mean an application into a graduate or PhD program.

I’ve also considered going there in person and just saying hello to the HR department so that they can attach a face to my disembodied online application, but I’m not sure how to go about.

Any advice would be appreciated!
