Hello, I am traveling through Japan soon and the Shimanami Kaido bicycle trip is something I’d really like to do. Currently I have 2 days set aside for it with 1 night of rest. My only concern is that my current plan has me coming from Hiroshima and then departing to Kyoto (I’d like to make a stop in Himeji but not sure yet).
My plan was to bike the 70km across and stay somewhere near Imabari then return the following morning (via bike or public transport). The only issue is I’d leave from Hiroshima, have to ship my bags or store them (idk what yet), then bike across all in the same day.
Does anyone have any advice? My current itinerary is 2 nights in Hiroshima then 1 night somewhere along the path then on the way to Kyoto later the next day, possibly with a short stop in Himeji. I am ok with less time in Hiroshima I think because I mainly want to see Miyajima there.
