Hi, I tried to look for details on registering a Hanko – Jitsuin without an address in Japan. The reason I was looking into this was to understand the process of buying a property in Japan and needing a Hanko to complete the process. I know the process doesn’t require Hanko anymore, but I’ve heard it helps to make the process faster (as you have to sign a lot of paperwork) and some real estate agents still require it.
Does anyone know if it’s possible to register Jitsuin without a local address in Japan? Can I use a friend’s / relative’s address in Japan?
Also, can I register Jistuin in any ward or do I need to register specifically in ward that I would buy property in?
