I was just walking by Sinjo station and hour ago and there is a building on fire. You could smell the smoke in the subway while coming off the train, I was worried it might be in the station before we walked out and saw several police/fire just arriving and pulling people out of the building down the alley. I think it might be an apartment complex. My wife and I waited there a few minutes before the smoke became too much to hang around for.
I came here hoping for more details myself.

Just a theory, but I’m guessing there was a fire somewhere in Kyoto that emergency services were responding to.
There was a fire and tons of emergency personnel in that area this morning
