Smoking in Restaurants/Izakaya

I love eating out. More than half my meals are in chain restaurants like Otoya, Yayoiken , saiseiria, yoshinoya, etc and sometimes good nice restaurants, yakitori, yakiniku and Izakaya. What I really hate about Izakaya and restaurants is they allow smoking. 🚬. I really doesn’t understand why people need to smoke where they eat. Why can’t they just take a min and smoke outside. Why do they have to share their smoke with fellow diners. Whenever people tells me Japanese are considerate. I would comment “not the smokers”. To me, smoking where u dine is like 💨 farting for full min and thinking the person dining next to you doesn’t mind. In fact, fart is less harmful and annoying than smoke from cigarettes. Fart doesn’t stay on your clothes, hair but smoke does, for the rest of your day. I wonder if anyone share the same opinion as me. For first time restaurant, I always call in advance to check if they allow smoking but I can’t do that if I am invited by colleagues and occasionally I get surprises.
