continue their spread in tokyo. but not giving starbucks a run for their money just yet. maybe they’ll become more popular than crocs or ugg-boots were.
I remember taipei brimming with them. then one summer they all came to tokyo. they brought with them those gentle queues of happy young women nattering away in pairs pointing delicate fingers at menus: of caramel and green tea and au lait and purple sweet potato and herbs that make skin smoother, hair more volume-ey.
shiny emojis on their advertising boards like teeny gold butterflies. a cutesy scene. bubbles.
sugar is a slow death for me. but sucking those balls through the wide straw reverse-blow pipe, oh yes…shooop shooop, smashing into the back of your throat
