  1. Can you buy duty free unlocked phones at Haneda Airport? Obviously can’t buy duty free at a normal shop because not a tourist, but can I buy a new phone when I’m leaving for a holiday?

  2. I know Japan has a high inheritance tax. I also know sometimes relatives don’t want to take ownership of properties because they don’t want the financial burden of the property.

Can one refuse to take ownership of a property but live in it?

I know there are lots of conditionals, like other rellies wanting their share, but I want to know what would happen in the hypothetical scenario above. Would it work and for how long?

  3. Got my working holiday visa extension approved for another 6 months and a shiny new zairyu card as well. Do I have to go to the ward office again to register my address on the back like it was after I arrived to Japan? My address isn’t changing, I’m staying in the same place printed on the front of the card.

  4. I want to go to some suburban recycle shops to find some furniture items. Does anyone have recommendations for West Tokyo area, Chuo or keio line if possible?

  5. Where can I find fluffy toilet paper/paper towel? I’m struggling. The paper here is so thin and papery. Not soft at all. Im also struggling to clean, since the paper towels barely absorb anything!

Any suggestions? Is this just me?

  6. Have you watched “All of us strangers” at the theater? It has haunted me for days now.

  7. Do I need to clean my AC if I just moved into a rental apartment a couple months ago? I was thinking since it probably was cleaned during the moving out of the previous tenant, I shouldn’t have to this year.
