Well be travelling between Matsuyama and Kyoto on the second day of the festival this year and thought it might be the perfect opportunity to stop off at Himeji for a half day to see some of the festival and Himeji castle. Is it the sort of event where it would be worth turning up around midday and seeing some of the festivities or is it likely to be so busy by that point that its not worth going at all? What is the experience like as a foreign visitor? Do u need to book at ticket in advance? Any answers or advice would be great
