16 days plan in Japan family of 3 (kid 9 year old)

First time traveling to Japan travel period from mid November to early December. Seeking some suggestions on the movement planning i have so far.

I’ve been revising my movement plan within Japan for this Nov trip and here’s what i got(yet to decide what i will do at each area as i want to nail down the movement first.

D1-D3 Tokyo
D3-D6 Tokyo>Hakone *renting car here* (Day trip to Lake Kawaguchiko)
D6-D9 Hakone>Takayama OR Shizuoka OR Nagoya
D9-D12 Depending on the above>Osaka (cater one of the days for Kyoto day trip)
D14-D16 Tokyo until return home

My thoughts are below, would really appreciate suggestions and feedback.

1. I thought to move around more so I see more of the country, but Japan is pretty big, should i just slow down and stay longer at each area, help me suggest how i should do it please.
2. I really want to try driving within Japan and hakone + lake kawaguchiko seems like a good idea, or are there other areas?
3. Should i do Lake kawaguchiko first or Hakone if I’m driving? I intend to rent it from one place and return the car at the other.
4. for **D6-D9**, I’m still quite torn, i was considering between Nagoya, Shizuoka or Takayama. I was heavily leaning towards Takayama based on what I’m seeing, but it’s so far away.. help me decide please.
5. I thought of just doing a Day trip in Kyoto from Osaka as I feel i probably wouldn’t enjoy the shrines that much BUT Gion seems really interesting!
