Are there any places in Tokyo that do upper endoscopy scans like in America where they put you to sleep and you don’t have to worry about a single thing? I literally couldn’t do my upper endo today because I needed to be awake during the entire procedure. I requested sedation but needed to swallow a numbing agent for my mouth and throat which was the most difficult thing I’ve ever had to swallow. It was extremely thick, viscous, and sticky and my body ended up having a hugely bad reaction to it. We ended up canceling the procedure before we could get the sedative medicine in an IV for me. I don’t understand how other Japanese people can do it awake. All I heard were other patients making tortured noises. Please tell me if you guys know of places that put you to sleep FIRST before doing anything. I already have trauma from the first time I had to do one, and listening to wailing patients didn’t help with my overall anxiety + having a bad reaction to the medicine they gave me.
