Japan for “pickier” eaters.

Hey, my partner and I are travelling around Osaka and Kyoto. I’m quite open to foods, and my partner is genuinely trying to be open to different options but we’re having a bit of trouble finding a decent savoury dinner (there are sweet snacks everywhere which is great).

Long story short: they don’t like fish, or beef, reluctant with pork as a last option. Chicken is totally fine.

We’ve found some dishes that work:
– okonomiyaki (without Katsuobushi)
– mazesoba (chicken pref)
– yakisoba
– karaage / tempura (albeit you can’t eat this every day)

Ramen is in there too provided it doesn’t taste fishy but we’re not totally sure how to tell what it’ll taste like?

Any suggestions on Japanese foods we should try and look out for, we are snacking in 7-11 but we would like to get as much authentic Japanese food as we can.

We’re searching Google maps a lot but it’s absolutely useless a lot of the time and I have Tabelog too but it’s a bit harder to refine searches as much.

Appreciate this is a niche request but if anyone can recommend anything we’d welcome the help!
