Why are some English language song titles just straightforward katakana transliteration (like “Strawberry Fields Forever” becomes ストロベリー・フィールズ・フォーエバー), other songs are a more literal translation (like “Norwegian Wood” becomes ノルウェイの森), and other songs are a Japanese translation with a little artistic license (like “Nowhere Man” becomes “ひとりぼっちのあいつ)?

  2. Buying a Japanese ランドセル as a present for an elementary student in the states, good idea or not? I like how they’re such high quality and I think could be unique and cool, but would they even fit American books or have the opposite effect of being to different and weird? I’m very conflicted with it.

  3. Is it common to take a trip to Guam from Japan? Any recommendations on things to do there?

  4. My three year old has become reluctant to drink water recently. Any tips on how to get him to drink it? (we let him drink a small pack of juice with his afternoon snack, but that’s it for sugary drinks)
