How to get better at proofreading/correcting?

ALT here. Title is question.

According to one of my teachers, whenever I correct students work, she has to recheck it because there are errors I missed. When I asked if it was one specific one or many, I was told its always various types of mistakes. In the 3 years i’ve been here, I’ve only had the chance to correct peoples work maybe 100 times. (They only want me to correct writing assignments.) Is there a way to become better at proofreading/correcting papers? I try to read papers as much as I can, and I even go online to try to find “ESL Corrections Worksheets” to try to improve, but if it keeps happening, they just get more frustrated, and im not trying to rock the boat.

Any help would be appreciated.
