What are the normal expectations when you go to the office on your birthday?

Hi!

So, on Monday is my birthday, and I have no idea if I should buy chocolate for everyone or what is normal here.

Thing is, I just got in the department after training, like I did my greeting on Friday. So I barely know anyone there.

I would normally just shut up about it, but from some paperwork, every single member of the management team knows it is my birthday, so I can’t just brush it off since they got me cake after work at a 飲み会 on Friday. And with the open office style, there is no way I can just sneak some sweets in silence to management and the closer co-workers withoit everyone noticing.

So, what are the expectations? Is it the classic “give everyone a piece of chocolate”? To everyone? Just your 課 or 部? Or would it actually be weird to give something in the first place?

I mean, I do want to give something, but it may be a problem if I have to give it to 200 people in the office.

Weirdly enough google didn’t help at all with this.

Thanks!
