Really dumb work question

Really dumb question. I’ve been entertaining the idea of moving to and working in Japan. Would I be able to land a job teaching English if I’m a native English speaker and aquire the TESOL 1 and 2 from coursera?
Again, dumb question I know.

  2. If you are a native speaker why would you be concerned with certs for non-native speakers? I’d be more concerned with what your education is / if you have one.

  3. TESOL certifications are not required for ALT nor eikaiwa type jobs. However immigration will require that you have a bachelors degree before they’d issue a visa for such work.

  4. If you’re a native speaker, you need a bachelor’s degree, a clean criminal record and a positive attitude, and you can teach English in Japan.

TESOL is not required but might help you understand what you’re doing in a classroom. And might look good on a resume. But most of these jobs are not that picky because they’re just going to pay you pennies anyway, so it barely matters.
