Just got a couple of quotes from some of the major moving companies, and they were quite high. 17万 and 14万. Only moving a couple of blocks away. They said because it was close they’d use a smaller truck and do many trips back and forth. We have a small apartment (that we are moving from, 2 bedroom but more like a 1.5), they want to send us 50 boxes but I feel like that many boxes, even folded up would have a hard time fitting in here (can’t see us even filling up 30). Anyhow, the plan is we fill the boxes (and unpack them) ourselves and they do the rest.
We have two young kids so we aren’t really in a situation where we can rent a truck and do it all ourselves (one will be at daycare on moving day, but the other will not, still a nursing infant). We will be renovating the new house so there will be a few months we have we could start moving small things (unnecessary for daily life). Anyhow. I may just have to go with it for the 14万 quote. It just seems high. I wanted to ask for advice on here if you think we should try asking a few other different companies or if there was something we could take away from the package that might help reduce cost (or perhaps a way we could prep things to get a more accurate scope of the work at hand and actual cost).
Just trying to process if this actually seems reasonable or if there is a smarter move.
