First time family 2 week itinerary
Hi, my family will be making our first trip this fall and I would like to get your opinion on our plans thus far. Hopefully traveling light with medium sized backpacks, we are happy to walk the city most days exploring and snacking. We have varied interests so are trying to do things each person wants, I could really use some suggestions as I will only be able to drag the rest of the family to a limited number of temples, castles, and gardens before they get fatigued, and likewise we have only so much stomach space to try all the great foods. Also wondering about the night life culture in regards to teens and if our kids will be welcome in venues/bars at night.
Day 1: Fly into KIX around dinner time, local transit to our hotel near Osaka castle, check in, grab a bite to eat, look around, then hopefully pass out.
Day 2: Osaka castle, rent bikes to explore, dotonbori in the evening
Day 3: Train to Nara in the morning, see the deer and Buddha then grab lunch. Train to Kyoto in the afternoon, check into the hotel and then to Gion for dinner and exploring.
Day 4: Kiyomizu-dera, lunch then off to Kinosaki Onsen. Take the cable car in Kinosaki to Onsenji temple(or do this the following morning), then do the ryokan/onsen thing.
Day 5: Shopping/onsen/ropeway in the morning and after lunch train to see Himeji castle, then onto Hakata to our hotel. Nakasu area for dinner and nightlife.
Day 6: Free day in Hakata, just have to make it to Hiroshima at some point to check in to the hotel.
Day 7: Hiroshima peace memorial, possibly the ferry to Miyajima or just explore Hiroshima, catch a late afternoon train to Kobe for dinner
Day 8: Free day in Kobe, just have to make it back to Osaka to check into our hotel near USJ
Day 9: USJ, then hopefully nobinobi sunrise express to Tokyo (I realize this day is going to hurt)
Day 10: Yoyogi park(it will be sunday), Meji shrine, Hachiko statue, then check into the hotel and rest before exploring Shibuya
Day 11: Akihabara, Yodobashi Camera, Sunshine City. Roppongi in the evening.
Day 12: Ghibli museum if I can get tickets, if not, Teamlabs Borderless. Train to Yokohama late afternoon. chinatown and Kishamichi Promenade
Day 13: Cup of noodles museum, a bit of exploring, then back to Tokyo. Rest of the afternoon/night is free time
Day 14: Enjoy the hotel gardens, sigh, wave goodbye and fly home in the afternoon
I know it’s a lot, but we would like to experience the differences between regions. Train rides will at least be a chance to rest our legs. What are your thoughts?
*Edit*: headed your sound advice and took out some temples to make things less hectic
