So I stumbled upon this news in facebook claiming that there might be rent increase
“Rent in rental houses is continuously rising.
This is another piece of bad news for all of us who are renting here in Japan, as apartment and mansion owners are reportedly raising the rent now.
Some of us may have already received a notice from their landlord or real estate agent about the changes in rental fees starting in the coming months.
According to the owners, they have no choice but to increase the rent because the cost of repair works and maintenance of their properties is also rising.
I think this is normal because as the prices of food and utilities (electricity and gas) go up, housing will also inevitably increase since it’s a basic need for people.
If the rent for your house suddenly increases significantly (by 20,000 to 30,000 yen), I think it’s better to consider moving, as your budget might not be able to handle it since wages aren’t increasing much at the moment.”
