Shikoku Island on my first trip to Japan? Or take more time for Tokyo/Kyoto Area?

Hi everyone. I’m starting to think more and more about my travel plan for my trip in November.

Since I got recommended to also check out Shikoku Island from a friend who has been to Japan before I am thinking about visiting Shikoku Island. But I am not sure if it would be too much for a 3 weeks trip to Japan and if it would be better to leave out Shikoku Island and have more time for Tokyo or Kyoto for my first trip. Like concentrate on these.

I know that this is something that in the end is my own decision but it would still be nice to read some opinions. Would you do Shikoku on your first trip on Japan?

A travel plan I thought of (I have no idea if that would make sense) that would include Shikoku might look like this (note that I won’t have a rental car and will be dependend on public transportation)
