Hi everyone, this might be a dumb question, but trust me–I have exhausted my resources. I looked online, in physical stores, asked Japanese female friends…yet ended up with zero lead. I will be staying in Japan for most of this year, and I want to be prepared for the summer.
The answer I received was that Japanese women don’t normally wear short shorts, which I understand, but years ago when I was in Japan I was still able to find them in H&M, Bershka, etc. But I notice that since the pandemic, a lot of Western trendy shops have closed down their Japan stores. I can still find some in H&M, but their sizings are all messed up, not to mention the horrible quality. I also found only one type of denim shorts in the Gap, but alas, they were ripped. I just want plain denim shorts, preferably with stretchy material like Uniqlo’s stretchy denim. (UNIQLO, if you are peeping, PLEASE start making stretchy denim short shorts!!!)
I have also looked at American Eagle and Mango, both don’t have physical stores here anymore (not to mention AE’s Japan pricing is a total rip-off), but I prefer in-store shopping so I can try the clothes on. I also don’t need high-end brands–nothing exceeds 100 USD a pair. Would appreciate any suggestions, thanks! 😀
UPDATE: thanks everyone for your input! I sold my soul to the fast fashion devil H&M in Ikebukuro, but glad I now got at least one pair of decent short shorts with good coverage.
