Which types of dancing are popular in Tokyo?

I do swing dancing, and recently read that the scene in Tokyo is very small (only a few dozens dancers at parties), which is supposing given the sheer size of Tokyo, and the popularity of swing in other East Asian countries (Korea, Taiwan etc).

I’ve also read that the salsa scene isn’t especially big, and I vaguely remember reading that Japan was about the only place on the planet where Gangnam Style wasn’t a big hit. I’ve also read that dancing was technically illegal (but unenforced) in Tokyo until quite recently, maybe 20 years ago.

All this has got me wondering, as someone who wants to visit later this year, what people in Tokyo dance. Tango, zouk, bachata, West Coast Swing, ballroom, kizomba, hip hop, cha-cha, samba, Bhangra, Japanese folk dances …?

I guess because of the sheer size of the city most of those are represented somehow, but I’d like to know which are most poular, the ones that might have events every night of the week and have hundreds or thousands of enthusiasts.
