itinerary check – 10th june to 30th ◡̈

me and my boyfriend are travelling to japan for the first time on the 10th and I was looking for advice / opinions on my itinerary as I made it all myself and I am clueless. ik the days in tokyo look very long, but the activities i’ve listed are more like recommendations than set in stone :p

TOKYO

11th- flight
– land in Haneda at ~ 10:50
– train to kinshichō station
– check in at 17:00
– tokyo skytree at 18:00

12th- shibuya & harajuku
– shibuya crossing
– hachiko statue
– meiji jingu temple
– yoyogi park
– hachimangu shrine
– takeshita street
– konno hachimangu shrine
– shibuya parco
– daiso
– purikura
– arcades
– karaoke

13th- mt. fuji day trip
– depart from tokyo at ~ 7
– arrival at ~ 9
– get to Kawaguchiko station
– explore lake kawaguchi
– take the Kachi Kachi Ropeway up Mount Tenjo
– go to Shimoyoshida Station and walk to Chureito Pagoda
– free afternoon / evening
– return to tokyo

14th- Studio Ghibli museum
– take the JR Chuo Line from Shinjuku Station to Mitaka Station at ~ 8
– walk to studio ghibli museum
– when done, walk to Shiro-Hige’s Cream Puff Factory in the Setagaya-Daita area. walk is about 45 minutes or take a train: from Mitaka Station, take the JR Chuo Line back to Shinjuku, then transfer to the Odakyu Line to Setagaya-Daita Station (about 30 minutes total).
– free evening

15th- leave for kyoto
– train from tokyo station to kyoto at 12:30
– arrive at 14:45

KYOTO

15th- arrive in kyoto
– arrive at 14:45
– checkin to hotel at 17:00
– free day to explore kyoto

16th- fushimi inari shrine
– take the JR Nara Line from Kyoto Station to Inari Station as early as possible
– hike fushimi inari shrine
– head to the Fushimi Sake District, 15-minute walk from Fushimi Inari Shrine. or take the Keihan Main Line from Fushimi-Inari Station to Chushojima Station.
– walk along fushimi canal
– tofuku-ji temple, 20 min walk or short train ride

17th- aryishima bamboo grove
– take the JR Sagano Line from Kyoto Station to Saga-Arashiyama Station as early as possible
– walk through bamboo grove
– tenryu-ji temple, at top of grove
– walk to Okochi-Sanso Villa
– walk through the Sagano area
– visit Togetsukyo Bridge
– cross the bridge and hike up to Monkey Park Iwatayama. The hike takes about 20-30 minutes
– visit the Arashiyama Kimono Forest, located at Randen Arashiyama Station
– visit a Tea House

18th- day trip to nara
– take the JR Nara Line from Kyoto Station to Nara Station as early as possible. takes about 45 minutes on the Miyakoji Rapid Express.

– isuien garden

19th- tea ceremony
– pick up at 10:30 for tea ceremony
– traditional tea ceremony for an hour and a half

20th- explore kyoto

– kiyomizu-dera temple
– walk to ninenzaka and sannenzaka

OSAKA DAY TRIPS

21st- explore osaka
– take the JR Special Rapid Service from Kyoto Station to Osaka Station as early as possible. takes about 30 minutes
– breakfast in umeda
– take the JR Osaka Loop Line from Osaka Station to Osakajokoen Station (about 10 minutes)
– walk to osaka castle
– explore osaka castle park
– take the subway from Osakajokoen Station to Shinsaibashi Station (Chuo Line)
– explore shinsaibashi
– walk to dontonbori
– kuromon ichiba market
– umeda sky building
– namba parks

22nd- explore osaka
– take the JR Special Rapid Service from Kyoto Station to Osaka Station as early as possible. takes about 30 minutes
– take the Nankai Main Line from Namba Station to Sumiyoshi Taisha Station (about 10 minutes)
– visit sumiyoshi taisha
– pokemon centre

– general shopping and touristing

23rd- universal studios japan
– take the jr to osaka and another jr to Universal City as early as possible. some trains go there directly from osaka station but might need another transfer at nishikujo to yumesaki line
– universal studios at 8:30
– super nintendo world at 9:30

24th- return to tokyo
– train from Kyoto station to tokyo at 12:30
– arrive at 14:45

24th- arrive in tokyo, ikebukuro
