# Hi everyone,
I am currently scheduled to move to Japan in September , and am discussing a work visa with various companies.
However, I also have the Working Holiday Visa available to me, and I really appreciate the freedom that the Working Holiday Visa affords.
The security of having work the minute I show up to Japan is also nice. However, I do wish for more of an adventure and the opportunity for spontaneity.
The ideal plan would be to arrive on a Working Holiday Visa, find some decent work, and use my first year in Japan to build my network and to travel, and play music. After one year, I would then find a company I can do a Work Visa with.
I’m wondering if anyone could share their thoughts regarding the risk/reward of this play. Would I be putting myself in a bad situation by not taking the Work Visa immediately ? I have a modest amount of savings that is likely to increase.
Ultimately, money is the deciding factor. If $10,000 falls into my lap, then there will be no need to take a Work Visa right away and I could focus on building connections and music.
Will accepting a work visa hinder my other goals ?
Any thoughts and insights are greatly appreciated.
