What are pros v cons of multi-room AC with ducts vs the normal isolated AC unit per room? (Mansion)

I expect to be purchasing AC units for a 3LDK. I know most homes use the detached 1 room/1 AC setup, but – are there significant benefits/detriments to a multiroom solution with duct between rooms? Namely:

1. How do prices compare to purchase+install? Maintain?
2. Does the cost to run differ?
3. Is it difficult to allow for varrying temps in different rooms?
