It is against my culture to date in general so I guess yeah?
If you go to japan with the intention of marrying a Japanese woman/man, you need help my friend. You’re fetishising them and it’s wrong. If you go to japan and happen to find someone to marry, of course you can marry – you will miss out on some of the cultural aspects I’d expect as japan is ethnically homogeneous, but it’s not banned. Just don’t be like the men that go to Thailand that’s all I’ll say.
No. Japan is an open, democratic society where a man and a woman may marry (I can’t remember if they have civil unions for homosexual couples). The societal reaction is dependent on who views it: some Japanese people frown on it, and many couldn’t care less; some foreigners frown on dating Japanese people, and many couldn’t care less.
From my experience, dating is difficult in Japan; firstly few people have conversational English, so you better get good at Japanese. Even if they do, it is extremely frowned upon that you would not be engaging in their culture, truly engaging, were you wanting to end up with a Japanese spouse. I think in terms of the idea of marrying across cultures, like many other countries with a low cross-culture rate, you will find the older generations are more against it than others. I honestly got stared at A LOT in Japan, and I was just some single guy wandering about. I imagine if you actually had a Japanese wife, and perhaps a child, it would be at the very least a spectacle to some degree, and some disapproval. But I imagine the real important thing is, are her parents supportive. Which is completely subjective, and I imagine a lot would be okay with it, but that is contextual and hard to answer.
TLDR: Yes it’s legal, it’s frowned upon by some but many have success with it.
P.S. Your question implies you may not have been to Japan. Which if that is the case, you should be going there before contemplating it.
it’s illegal to marry people from Japan because they are heterogenous country
