I “applied” for Hakone Ginyu Ryokan, am I shit out of luck?

Hi folks!

My husband and I are taking a 16 day trip to Japan next year in the last two weeks of March, I’m pretty type A with these sorts of things so I have begun booking our accommodations.

We are staying in Hakone for two nights towards the middle of our trip to relax and recharge. After looking up various ryokans in Hakone I settled for Ginyu, not knowing it is highly sought after. I sent in an application and got an email back that I would receive a response from the facility in 7 – 14 days. After looking at some other posts on this sub I found that most folks didn’t have to wait the full 14 days for a response.

It’s been 11 days and I haven’t heard anything back, it’s beginning to make me nervous! To anyone that has put in a ryokan request for Ginyu, how long did it take for you to receive an email back?

Is 10 months in advance too early to make a request? If 14 days comes and goes, should I apply again or accept my fate and look elsewhere?
