Paying for Tokyo Gas bill with American credit card

Hi, so new resident here, I am trying to figure out my Tokyo Gas bill and I’m a little confused. I saw the notice that Tokyo Gas is switching to paperless in November, so I went ahead and tried to set up an automatic payment with my American credit card (Capital One, Mastercard). From what I could tell on the website, Mastercard is an accepted credit card. I got the notification on the website of my bill, as well as a paper notice (with no QR code to pay at a konbini). However, my credit card hasn’t been charged at all, and I’ve been checking daily. On the website, under payment status, it says “requesting” or “請求中”.

My questions are:

-Am I just not being charged this month? My total bill was 1,971, so I was wondering if it has to be a higher number before I’m charged?

-Is it possible set up my credit card information wrong or do they only accept Japanese credit cards?

-Does the processing time take a while to charge my account? I also saw some notice about credit card processing times possibly having delays but I couldn’t tell if that applies to me or not.

-What happens if the bill doesn’t get paid? (worst case scenario)

-Who can I ask for help about this that might have English support?

Thank you in advance if anyone can help answer some of my questions!
