ADHD medication in Japan

Hi everyone

Long story short, I’m certain I’m suffering from some level of ADHD. My work (and home) life is a shambles despite having a good job I like with a supporting environment. I am basically trying to find the most convenient way to get treatment.

After researching online and on this subreddit, Concerta seems to be the most effective option by far. I understand that it is a carefully controlled stimulant so getting a prescription is not straightforward at all. However, all the other drugs like atomoxitine and Strattera seem to be less effective with more unpleasant side effects.

So to cut to the chase: What is the most effective way to get diagnosed with ADHD and be prescribed with concerta? Do I just have to accept months of trying inferior treatments before ‘graduating’ to concerta? Or, as I’ve seen on this subreddit, do I need something like high school records proving my inability to focus?

I’m in the Kansai area and while an English speaking doctor is ideal, I can manage in Japanese if necessary.

Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
