Two au reps visited my apartment last night and asked if I was interested in switching providers (I’m with Softbank and Y!mobile). I listened to their spiel because it would actually be cheaper for me to switch, and I signed the documents they put in front of me because they said there would be a cooling off period of 8 days if I want to cancel. I’ve looked over the documents, but I’m still unsure if I want to go through the hassle of construction and everything. One of the reps is going to call me today. If I say I want to cancel, will there be any issues? The day of construction hasn’t even been decided. I read on the documents and online that I have to fill out the form they send you and mail it to cancel the contract (which is fine, I just don’t have it yet). I’m just worried that because I’ve signed the contract, they’ll tell me I can’t cancel for some bullshit reason or I’m obligated to do X or Y because of it. Has anyone had experience cancelling a contract like this before anything has happened with it?
I know I shouldn’t have signed it without thinking about it more but I’ve never had salesmen come to my apartment before, I was tired, and the deal isn’t actually bad. I’m just not that interested in switching, partly because I’m not sure if I’ll be in Japan for another 2 years (and it’s a two year contract, of course).
Incidentally, has anyone switched based on this kind of campaign?
