Looking for anime to rehearse Japanese from

Anime isn’t usually recommended as a resource for studying Japanese, since the language used isn’t always practical, low quality vocabulary, or might be actually cringe worthy if used in actual speech (What I was told by several native Japanese speakers).

I was wondering, if there’s a list of anime with actual decent speech, which then can be used to practice my hearing, understanding and enrich my vocabulary.

  1. I thought Wotakoi was a pretty good one with casual Japanese and also some business Japanese if you were interested in that. It’s a slice of life type anime so most of the Japanese in the show is useful in real life!

  2. [からかい上手の高木さん](https://myanimelist.net/anime/35860) and [Yawara!](https://myanimelist.net/anime/691) both have pretty standard dialogues that are fairly representative of “realistic” Japanese, though からかい上手の高木さん is almost entirely in casual speech between friends. Yawara, on the other hand, has a bit more subtle variation. Most characters speak in 丁寧語 when appropriate, though there’s an お嬢様 archetype character and her butler who’ll use 敬語. You’ll also find the usual masculine and old-guy speech styles, but for the most part, let’s say 80% of its 124-episode runtime, the main characters mostly speek a very cordial 丁寧語 that would be pretty safe to imitate even in real life.
