I live in an apartment block that has parking underneath, accessed via a roller shutter operated by remote. Pressed button, shutter went up, started to drive through, shutter tarted to come down, I stopped and pressed up button, shutter continued, hit car, I moved out of the way, car is damaged. In hindsight I should have moved straight away rather than press the button again, or not stopped at all.. but, yeah.. hindsight.
I now know the shutter did not have a sensor to detect if something was in the way, and the command to say ‘go up’ only works once it has finished the down cycle. I also know that this shutter has hit a few other residents cars in a similar way and hence they have the shutter scheduled for replacement soon.
Obviously this is irritating as there’s quite a repair bill on the car and I don’t want my insurance company to foot the bill.
The building owners directed me to my management agent, who directed me to my estate agent, who went back to the building owners, who went to the people who manage the door who said “no fault as is working as designed”. So now I have four organisations pointing the finger at each other and the most I’ve had is ごめんなさい.
Any ideas?
