To be clear, not “learn” it, but practice it.
I’ve joined a study group for a fairly well known koryu, however due to my remote location the instructor only holds training one Saturday a month. Of course I’m not going to improve by doing it once every 30 days, and if I practice at home my damage deposit will be the first casualty.
Is it weird to swing a wooden sword around at a local park in the morning or evening, before/after anyone would reasonably be using it? Are there other places I could use?
Sort of a side question, but there’s a local kendo group that meets weekly, however it’s the modern kendo sport (I have no real interest in competitions). Is it worth it to join that, just for some additional practice space? Or does learning the sport version tend to erode the koryu?
