Another question about providing My Number Card information.

I saw the earlier question about recruiters asking for My Number, and I have a related question: My wife got a new part-time job recently, and they asked her for a copy of MY My Number card. My insurance is through my own company (small business owner). Is there any reason whatsoever for them to want my My Number?

  1. I don’t think they should have a copy of your card. Maybe they can explain why.

  2. Are you her dependent? If not, they shouldn’t need anything.

  3. So my company and my husband’s company wanted copies of both our my number cards. We gave them to each company.

My HR told me it was administrative but hinted that they had to check what types of pension and insurance both of us had, and that we had it.

Both of our companies give benefits for children and spouses, which we need to give both our my number cards to confirm.

It was also in preparation for the switch to my number health insurance cards that are coming this year.

  4. 4 companies in Japan, never had to do this nor did my wife’s place ask for mine. Never heard of it before. As for law or reason, don’t know just sharing my experience.
