Will the current weather impact our plans?

Hello all, me and my family are set to head out on a 3 week trip to Japan next week. We will be flying in to Haneda at around 9pm JST. We will be first staying in Tokyo for a couple of days and then moving to Kanazawa for a few more days then moving to Osaka, and finally back in Tokyo for our final days of the trip. My parents are on the older side, so they’re more sensitive to weather changes than I am and I’ve heard we might be in for some cold weather / rain in Tokyo so I wanted to ask other fellow travelers of Japan how the weather will be in places like Tokyo, Kanazawa, and Osaka for the duration of our trip. Any recommendations on what to wear or how many layers of clothing would also help as well.

  1. Rain is going to be inevitable, so prep umbrellas or rain jackets. Have some indoor activities ready for those days if you’re really worried. Other than that it’s shorts and t-shirt weather.

  2. It’s not going to be that cold, even when it rains. Just bring a raincoat/buy an umbrella and have a few back up plans (museums, cafe, etc).

It’s already warm AF here. A little cooling rain would be nice.

  3. It’s not going to be cold in Tokyo, unless you consider 25-30 degrees cold. It also may not rain, even though it seems to be raining every other danged day this May.
